Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Perfectionism, transcendence, and personality development are areas of study in modern psychology that have been comprehensively considered in the theories of Erich Fromm, a famous German psychologist and one of the founders of social psychology in the Frankfurt School. In the present study, we aim to study the poem Haft Paykar by Nizami Ganjavi based on psychological analysis based on Erich Fromm"s theory of transcendence and perfection of personality and to examine and evaluate the manifestations of transcendence and perfection in the stages of Bahram"s journey from the beginning to the end of the story.
METHODOLOGY: The research method in this descriptive-analytical article is based on library studies and the use of modern psychological criticism based on Erich Fromm"s theories. The population under study is the Haft Paykarby Nizami Ganjavi edited by Hassan Vahid Dastgerdi.
FINDINGS: The research findings show that the character of Bahram in Haft Peykarby Nizami Ganjavi can be completely analyzed and evaluated from the perspective of Erich Fromm"s psychology. In Erich Fromm"s theory, the transcendence of perfection and the growth of personality are discussed in connection with the category of love and the effort to search for identity, which is compatible with the story of Bahram"s journey in Haft Peykar.
CONCLUSION: By analyzing and examining the Haft Paykarby Nizami Ganjavia the personality of Bahram and basing it on Erich Fromm"s theory of personality growth and transcendence and perfectionism, we find that the most important stages of Bahram"s personality growth in the seven figures are achieving the appearance of a perfect human being and king who rules Iran with justice and fairness. According to Fromm, this character is a diagram of a perfect human being who, based on love (initially love for the homeland and country), snatches the royal crown from two lions and overcomes obstacles. By passing through the seven domes, in the circle of fate, he places the dark part of his existence in a cave and disappears like smoke and achieves true perfection in the cycle of transcendence as a perfect human being in accordance with Fromm"s view.
